Tallow Soap From Scratch (Cold Process)

Here's another great recipe to try for those of you who are interested in working with tallow. Once again this is a balance of oils to bring about hardness, emollience and lather. Sets up and is ready for cutting in as little as two days.

18 oz. Beef Tallow
16 oz. Vegetable Shortening (No-Name is fine)
6 oz. Pomace Olive Oil
6 oz. Coconut Oil
6 oz. Sweet Almond Oil
5 oz. Palm Kernal Oil

18.5 oz. Cold Water
7.5 oz. Lye

Add 5 to 6 teaspoons of Perfume Fragrance Oil or Essential Oils at trace. Makes a 5 pound batch of soap.

Temperatures should be approximately 115 to 120  degrees F.

The lye has already been discounted by 10% in this recipe.
