Rich Multibase Butter Cream With Cyclomethicone
What
You Need
8 oz. multibase (any one will do)
12 oz.
hot water
1 oz. melted cocoa butter
1 oz. melted shea butter
1/4 to 1/2
teaspoon fragrance oil or essential oil
1 oz.
cyclomethicone
1 to 3 drops of liquid soap dye (optional)
5 - 4 oz. white cosmetic jars with lids
Measure out your multibase
and place in a medium sized bowl. Heat up in the microwave at medium power
for 15 to 30 seconds. Check between intervals to see the base is actually
melted. You may need to stir a couple of times to get it completely melted.
Next add your hot water, melted cocoa butter and shea butters. Stir gently
until completely mixed together. Don't be surprised if it takes a couple of
minutes - at first it will likely appear as though it's curdling, but all of
a sudden it will take on a wonderful creamy texture as all of the
ingredients come together.
Check your temperature to
ensure that it is below 140 degrees F. Once it is, it is a good time to add
your fragrance, cyclomethicone and liquid soap dyes. Mix well until all
ingredients are incorporated. Pour your cream into your jars, seal closed
until ready to use or give away as gifts. Makes approximately 20 oz. Shelf
life - approximately 1 year when stored properly.
Nice scenting choices
include: French Vanilla, Sugar Cookie, Orange Valencia and Oatmeal, Milk &
Honey.
Note: It is important to
wait for the temperature to come down when working with cyclomethicone,
fragrances and dyes. These ingredients can have a reduced shelf life or
break down quicker at the higher temperatures much quicker than other
ingredients.
